Riparia Environmental is seeking an Environmental Restoration Project Manager for our team in Vancouver, Washington. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing restoration projects, which may include habitat restoration, wetland restoration, stream restoration, habitat mitigation or similar ecological projects. This role will involve leading, scheduling, and training field teams, as well as ensuring accurate documentation of project progress, site conditions, and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for assessing sites, determining necessary actions, and overseeing implementation to meet project goals. The Project Manager will serve as the face of Riparia’s restoration efforts to clients, managing relationships and growing our portfolio of clients.

This position requires someone with a solid understanding of restoration practices, ecological regulations, and the technical aspects of restoration project management. As our region continues to grow, so too does the need for habitat and ecological restoration, ensuring that our natural spaces are preserved and revitalized. The position requires a dynamic individual capable of managing field crews effectively while maintaining the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.   

Responsibilities:

  • Client contract management, communication, and negotiation.
  • Effectively manage and direct field crew members in the execution of restoration projects.
  • Strategically grow business opportunities by developing new client relationships and expanding into new geographic areas.
  • Perform and train field crews on on-site inspections/assessments of restoration sites.
  • Ensure field crews accurately document site conditions, actions taken, and necessary follow-up tasks.
  • Communicate project status and assessment findings through oral and/or written reports, including relevant photographs and other documentation.
  • Maintain and augment a database to track project progress, site evaluations, and seasonal or ongoing restoration activities.

Qualifications:

  • Three + years of experience managing and directing field crews on ecological or restoration projects, with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Two years of experience in client contract management.
  • Education: A minimum of an Associate degree is preferred.
  • Direct experience in ecological or habitat restoration and familiarity with applicable regulations and Best Management Practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to read, understand, and verify construction plans, environmental permits, and best management practices related to restoration projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe software.
  • Physical ability to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist, and work in the outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely. Site visits may involve exposure to weather extremes and rough terrain.
  • A current driver’s license and good driving record are required. Ability to be insured to drive company vehicles is required.
  • Certification or the ability to obtain relevant certifications in restoration management, such as Licensed Herbicide Applicator, Certified Erosion & Sediment Control Lead (CESCL), etc.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

The wage range for this position is $38.00-$55.00 (depending on experience)
